Beauty Tips for Women: Beer rinse for curly hair

Yes you read correctly, beer is good for your curly hair.  The benefits of a beer rinse are softer hair, shine, volume/bounce and revitalizes curls. Buy hair volume enhancement, to get the volume you are looking for. I wondered if this would be good for my 3a/3b low porosity curly hair.  I decided to give it a try.

What you need is a bottle of beer.  It is recommended that the beer be non-alcoholic.  Non-alcoholic beer is more acidic so you get the best results.  I didn’t use non-alcoholic beer because I didn’t want to invest in a 6 pack that cost $8.  I had a bottle already that I could use and it wouldn’t cost me a thing.  The beer should be room temperature and flat.  So just open it and leave it out overnight.

I decided to wash my hair in the sink because I wasn’t down with the idea of a whole body beer bath.

I started off by cleansing my hair with NYC Curls by Carlos Flores.  I took the opportunity to detangle my hair at this point.

Next I poured out the beer into a measuring cup to make it easier to pour.  I placed a large pot in the sink to catch the beer as it fell off my hair. I would pour back the beer into the cup and pour it on my hair again.  I did this about 4 times making sure to really saturate my hair.  I scrunched my hair several times working the beer into my hair.  I would say this process might have lasted about 5 minutes. During this rinsing process my hair felt soft.  I rinsed out the beer with plenty of warm water.  My hair had a faint beer smell. Nail Art Polish Beauty tips for Women 458

The last step was to condition my hair.  This step is optional.  Some people do it and others don’t.  But it does help eliminate the beer smell if the water rinse didn’t do it.  I conditioned my hair with EO Essentials lavender & aloe conditioner mixed with two spoons of honey.  I saturated my hair with the mix and combed it through.  I then rinsed with warm water.

I styled my hair as usual.  My hair was super soft.  I had a lot of volume in my curls and at the top as well.  I did notice a bit of frizz at the top but it wasn’t too bad.  My hair was very shinny and my curls did look more tightly coiled.  I am very impressed with how this rinse worked out for me.  If the results were good with regular beer I can only imagine they will be even better with the non-alcoholic beer.  I will definitely be investing in getting some non-alcoholic beer to do this again on my hair.

Tips On How To Win Tickets To Wicked – Part 2

Wicked-posterPart 2:  Tips on how to win tickets to wicked, win concert tickets and other events.

I know it seems tedious to make those radio station lists but once you have that initial setup you don’t have to do it again.  So you don’t drive yourself crazy, use the same login and passwords for your radio station memberships.  The reason why I suggest this is that a handful of companies control all the stations on the radio so essentially your membership is to one parent company and it just makes entering the contests easier if you have to remember only one login and password.

I like to enter contests that are simple to sign up for.  I am not a fan of radio contests where you have to be the lucky number call, or where you have to answer trivia, or the phrase that pays.  For me, that is too complicated and I don’t have the time for stuff like that.  I am also not a fan of the new trend of radio station contests in which you have to accumulate points in order to enter the contest.  Two of my local radio stations have switched over to this method and I hate it.  I had previously won concert tickets, won tickets to Disney shows, and other sponsor prizes very regularly, but since this change I haven’t had any luck. Don’t think that it is the same people winning all the time because most radio contests have a clause that if you have won a prize from them, you can’t enter or win anything for at least 30 days.

Whenever you enter a contest, read the rules to see how often you can enter.  Most radio and TV contests are one-time entries.  The contests run for the week, so make it a point to login every Monday to see if there are any contests you want to enter.  In the case of radio stations, since the contest runs for the week, they pick a winner by Thursday.  Local TV stations vary in terms of how long the contests run, so read those contest rules.  As I have mentioned before you will have to fill out tax forms for your prize, which will require a social security number.  Wait to provide this information when you are at the radio or TV station to pick up your prize.  If your prize is around $900 or over, it will affect your tax returns because that is the time Uncle Sam will ask for his portion.  I found this out after winning a hair laser removal package valued over $900.  So our tax return for that year took a little hit.  But I was ok with that, laser hair removal is super expensive so it balanced out in my eyes if all I paid was the taxes.

In part 3 of this series I’ll share some more tips on keeping track of your contests.
