Beauty Tips for Women: Orly – Melodious Utopia Manicure

I wanted to share a manicure I did using Orly’s Spring 2013 Hope and Freedom Collection – Melodious Utopia.  I’m still working my way through all polishes in this lovely collection.

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with yellow polishes.  I like them but never like how they look on me.  Plus formulas tend to be kind of wacky.  So I was bit skeptical about how this yellow would fare on me.

Melodious Utopia is a creamy yellow shimmer polish.  It was hard to capture a good picture that showed off the gold/orange/pink shimmers it has throughout.  I used two coats.  I had no issues with the formula at all.

I was pleasantly surprised by how Melodious Utopia looked on me.  I was inspired to do some stamping and what came to mind was honeybees.  To achieve this look I used Winstonia plate W113, which has a cool honeycomb like pattern.  For the honeybee, I used Shany plate SH05.  I stamped with Konad special black polish.

I give Melodious Utopia 5 brains.

Beauty Tips for Women: Orly – Miss Conduct

If by chance you still haven’t laid eyes upon Orly’s Holiday 2012 Naughty Or Nice Collection, you should and pronto before they disappear. They are all lovely, but the one that knocked my socks off is Miss Conduct.

Miss Conduct is unlike any holographic polish I’ve seen or own; it truly is unique.  It is a magenta/pink/raspberry color with scattered holo effect.    The formula was great, very easy to apply. I had no issues at all.  I did two coats but with one coat it would have been fine. I tried my best to capture just how wonderful this shade-shifter is, but pictures don’t do it justice. I tried to capture a picture with and without flash.  I couldn’t stop starring at my nails and showing off the holographic effect to anyone who came my way.

I give Miss Conduct 5 brains.

Beauty Tips for Women: Orly’s Boho Bonnet/Peaceful Opposition Manicure & Review

I wanted to share a manicure I did using two polishes from Orly’s Spring 2013 Hope and Freedom Collection, Boho Bonnet and Peaceful Opposition.

I’m a sucker for blues and when I saw Boho Bonnet I feel in love with it.  It is a blue/grey crème.  It went on like a dream; the formula was perfect.  I used two coats.  On my middle finger I used Peaceful Opposition.  This is a silver glitter packed in a milky white polish.  I loved the look but application was a bit difficult.  I expected that with such a packed glitter polish.  But the effect of it was lovely.  I tried my hand at doing a glitter gradient on my thumbnail that came out ok but I need to practice that technique.  I tried to capture the manicure under different light.  Pardon the nubs but I have been struggling with a lot of breakage and just chopped them all off out of frustration.

Since we are in February and love is still in the air, I decided to do some Valentine stamping.  I used Winstonia W102 plate.

I give Orly’s Boho Bonnet 5 brains.

I give Orly’s Peaceful Opposition 4 brains.
