Beauty Tips for Women: Beer rinse for curly hair

Yes you read correctly, beer is good for your curly hair.  The benefits of a beer rinse are softer hair, shine, volume/bounce and revitalizes curls. Buy hair volume enhancement, to get the volume you are looking for. I wondered if this would be good for my 3a/3b low porosity curly hair.  I decided to give it a try.

What you need is a bottle of beer.  It is recommended that the beer be non-alcoholic.  Non-alcoholic beer is more acidic so you get the best results.  I didn’t use non-alcoholic beer because I didn’t want to invest in a 6 pack that cost $8.  I had a bottle already that I could use and it wouldn’t cost me a thing.  The beer should be room temperature and flat.  So just open it and leave it out overnight.

I decided to wash my hair in the sink because I wasn’t down with the idea of a whole body beer bath.

I started off by cleansing my hair with NYC Curls by Carlos Flores.  I took the opportunity to detangle my hair at this point.

Next I poured out the beer into a measuring cup to make it easier to pour.  I placed a large pot in the sink to catch the beer as it fell off my hair. I would pour back the beer into the cup and pour it on my hair again.  I did this about 4 times making sure to really saturate my hair.  I scrunched my hair several times working the beer into my hair.  I would say this process might have lasted about 5 minutes. During this rinsing process my hair felt soft.  I rinsed out the beer with plenty of warm water.  My hair had a faint beer smell. Nail Art Polish Beauty tips for Women 458

The last step was to condition my hair.  This step is optional.  Some people do it and others don’t.  But it does help eliminate the beer smell if the water rinse didn’t do it.  I conditioned my hair with EO Essentials lavender & aloe conditioner mixed with two spoons of honey.  I saturated my hair with the mix and combed it through.  I then rinsed with warm water.

I styled my hair as usual.  My hair was super soft.  I had a lot of volume in my curls and at the top as well.  I did notice a bit of frizz at the top but it wasn’t too bad.  My hair was very shinny and my curls did look more tightly coiled.  I am very impressed with how this rinse worked out for me.  If the results were good with regular beer I can only imagine they will be even better with the non-alcoholic beer.  I will definitely be investing in getting some non-alcoholic beer to do this again on my hair.

Beauty tips for Women: Blow drying your hair using Turbo Power’s Turbo 1500

Of all the beauty tips for hair that I have heard and practiced, the one that is the most important to me is the investment in a good blow dryer.  I’m not a professional hairdresser, beautician, hair stylist or nail technician but I do enjoy dabbling in those areas.  I host what I like to call Blow Drying parties.  I mainly do friends and families hair Fridays for the weekend or Sundays to start off the workweek.  So I need a reliable blow dryer that will get the job done.

Here is a picture of my trusty blow dryer made by Turbo Power Inc. – Turbo 1500.  I purchased this blow dryer in 2001, so that is 11 years with the same blow dryer.  The Turbo 1500 has never broken down on me.  Granted I do clean it and take care not to mangle the cord.  This Turbo 1500 is a professional stylist blow dryer made in Italy.

Until I had purchased this 11 years ago, I would go through blow dryers like water.  I have curly hair and can blow dry my hair straight without any issues using this blow dryer.  Here is a picture of my hair curly then blown dry straight with the Turbo 1500.

Here is a picture of a blow dry I did over the weekend along with the products I used.  I totally forgot to take a picture of her hair before hand.  The hair care products are Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Leave In Conditioner.  As you can tell she has highlights that look awesome but all the dying has dried out her hair.  The combination of products used gave her hair a lot hydration and conditioning, which she needed.  I used my trusty Wet Brush to detangle her hair and an oval shaped brush from Goody – Get Smooth Volume Natural Shine Boar Bristles (Review coming) to dry her hair.

To finish everything off I did a simple manicure that goes with everything using Essence Modern Romance and Space Queen over it.

If you are looking for a blow dryer I strongly recommend a blow dryer made by Turbo Power Inc.  Mine is an oldie but goody and is still working great after 11 years.  So you can imagine what the newest ones can do.

I give Turbo Power 5 brains and recommend you to get more information from this site.

The Wet Brush Review

Who wants to hear some beauty tips for women’s hair? I have to share a hair product review of The Wet Brush. I have to wonderful little girls, ages 6 and 3, but combing there hair is a nightmare. I had gotten to the point with my 6 year old that when her hair was past her shoulders I would cut it off because of the drama with all the crying and screaming due to her tangles and knots. My 3 year old was following the same path. My oldest has thick semi wavy hair that was always matted and knotted up. My youngest has fine semi wavy hair that easily gets knotted.

About 3 months ago, I was at my wits end again with my oldest and made an appointment to cut her hair. I happened to go to Bed Bath and Beyond where they had a huge display for The Wet Brush. I looked it over and thought it sounded to good to be true. Here is what the The Wet Brush claims; you can find out more at mywetbrush.com: It uses IntelliFlex bristles; works on both wet or dry hair; used for thick, curly or straight hair; makes detangling easy; great for wigs and extensions. I had already purchased two other detangling brushes that week and didn’t want to spend any more money. But I went ahead and got it anyway. I used my Bed Bath and Beyond coupon and paid $7 for the brush. I figured if it didn’t work on my girls then I would use it cause I have curly hair. Here is a picture of my hair and as you can see detangling can be an issue.

It was amazing! I combed their hair and not even a peep came out of them. They didn’t realize that I was combing their hair, if you can believe that one. I wanted to give The Wet Brush a longer test drive before I headed out to get another one. So my testing lasted 2 weeks. I combed their hair while wet and dry with no problems. I used The Wet Brush to style their hair in their ponytails and piggy tails without a tear. Into the second week they wanted to comb their own hair. I was so excited and happy, no more tears or screaming! My hair was a breeze to detangle, I was hooked. I went back to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up another one and to my dismay the display was gone and so were all the brushes. I had the good fortune to find The Wet Brush at local beauty supply store and they had a large selection of colors and designs. I picked up a second one with happy stars on it. Here is a picture of my oldest combing her hair with The Wet Brush.

I can’t recommend The Wet Brush enough. I took my sister to pick up her own Wet Brush and she loves it. I plan to buy two more to have as backups cause with kids you never known; plus I want to keep one in my purse. I plan to purchase more as holiday gifts, stocking stuffers, for my teenage nieces and the rest of the ladies in the family. A must have brush for everyone, so go out and get yourself The Wet Brush because it certainly is the best detangling Brush ever!
