Beauty Tips for Women: A-England Saint George

I wanted to share a beauty product review of the lovely A-England Saint George nail polish.  Let me warn you that this will be a photo intensive post.  Saint George has been on my lemming list for some time.  In fact all the collections of A-England are on my lemming list but that is a whole other issue.

In case you don’t know what “lemming” refers to, here is the definition according to Urban Dictionary:  A lemming refers to a purchase/wished-for-item, which results from reading an enthusiastic post about a new fabulous product. Overcome by compulsion, readers follow like lemmings diving off a cliff.  May be used as a noun or verb. May apply to the buyer but more commonly to the item of desire.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to receive my white little envelope with the Royal Mail stamp.  I couldn’t help but take a picture.

Saint George is a scattered holographic dark teal.  It is just a stunning color.  The formula was amazing.  I had no issues whatsoever.  I used only one coat and got perfect opacity.  These pictures are with no topcoat.

I wanted to do some stamping but I didn’t want to cover up the holographic effect not to mention the teal color is just amazing, so I didn’t want to loose that.  I decided to use Cheeky Jumbo Plate 8 – Princess Charming, which has a royal crown image that resembles the A-England crown logo.

I used Pure Ice – Silver Mercedes to stamp the crown images.  I toped it all off with Seche Vite.  Pardon the awkward hand poses but I was trying to capture the stamping next to the logo of A-England as best I could.  I also took some pictures outdoors trying my best to capture just how beautiful this polish is.

Beauty Tips for Women: Nail Tape Stripe Sticker

Amazon recently had a set of 10 nail tape stripe stickers for $1.51 and free shipping.  I couldn’t resist this deal since I have wanted to try nail tape.  The only down side was that it shipped from China, so that meant a long wait time.

I was so excited to receive the package.  So lets take a look at the items.  I received the nail tape individually wrapped.  I was a bit taken by the size.  For some reason I thought the roles would be much larger.  Unfortunately I don’t have another brand of nail tape to compare with.  Either way I took pictures measuring the actually size.

The color selection was nice.  I received silver, gold, green, blue, red, purple, pink, white, hologram gold, and hologram purple. These tapes are very sticky.  I had trouble removing them out of the package cause they were stuck to their wrapping; so they seem very sticky.  One thing I noticed is they are extremely thin.  When I held them sideways they were almost transparent.  Not sure if this is the norm for nail tape.

I’m looking forward to trying them out.  So lets see what I come up with.

Beauty Tips for Women: Roses Manicure using Venique

I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of the Nail It! Magazine’s contest; my prize was 4 polishes from Venique.  Venique sent me a top coat, bast coat, I’m A Sucker For Wedges, and Wingtip White.  I love Venique polishes and own a few already so this was an awesome prize to win.

It seems that with spring in the air there has been inspiration in the online nail art world to do manicures with roses, mostly freehand.  I suck at freehand which is why I am hooked on stamping.  I thought these colors from Venique would make for a nice rose manicure.

I stared off with Venique base coat, which is sticky and anchors the polish.  Love this base coat.  Then applied two coats of Wingtip White on my thumb and ring finger.  This is a lovely white cream polish.  The formula was perfect.  I had no issues at all with it.  I applied two coats of I’m A Sucker For Wedges on the rest of my nails.  It is a vibrant deep hot pink, which just screams summer to me.  No issues at all with the formula, just a delight to put on.

The formula of each polish was just right for stamping.  So I decided I would use them to stamp the images from the plates I selected.  For the ring finger I isolated a rose off Bundle Monster’s BM323.  For the thumb I used Checky CH6.  I stamped these with I’m A Sucker For Wedges.  As you can see it stamped perfectly.  I used Cheeky CH6 again for the dots and Cheeky CH10 for the stripes.  On my pinky I used Cheeky CH14.  These were all stamped with Wingtip White.  As you can see it also stamped wonderfully.  I used two different green strippers to create the little leaves.  Finished if off with Venique top coat.   Just love how it turned out and just the vibrancy of the colors both as polish and stamping polish.

My 3 year old loved how my rose manicure turned out and wanted me to do her nails too.  She wanted purple and pink. So I opted to keep going with Venique.  I used Jamin’ in Jellies. One thin coat did the trick for her little nails and stamped the roses using I’m A Sucker For Wedges.  I used the roses from Cheeky CH14.  The same one I used on my pinky.  I used my stripper in green to make small petals.  She was so happy with how it came out.  I think I have a little diva polish princess on my hands.

I can’t say enough good things about Venique.  You can find them on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/VeniqueNails and their web page:  http://www.veniquenails.com for further information about where to purchase.
