I recently received some samples of the Raw Curls line from Raw Hair Organics.

I received the following products:

Raw Curls Spray Gel
Raw Curls Anti-Frizz Spray
Raw Curls Cleanser
Raw Curls Conditioner
Raw Curls Pomade & Shine Serum
Raw Curls Medium and Firm Hold Gel

In this post I will be reviewing the cleanser, conditioner, spray gel, and anti-frizz spray. According to their website all “Raw Curls products are Silicone-Free, Sulfate-Free, Alcohol-Free, Paraben-Free, Wheat-Free, GMO-Free, Not Tested on Animals and is 100% Natural & Organic Ingredients”.

The Raw Curls Cleanser does lather. It has a scent that I can’t really describe other than it smells organic. I found that it gave my hair that squeaky clean feeling. I didn’t feel like it was very hydrating for my hair.

The Raw Conditioner also has that organic smell but with a hint of something that almost reminds me of bubble gum. This conditioner has great slip and I found it to be very moisturizing. I let it sit on my hair for about 3 to 5 minutes and rinsed out my hair.

Now on to the styling part. With my hair still soaking wet, I reapplied the conditioner to use it as a leave-in. I followed up by using the Raw Curls Spray Gel. I sprayed this throughout my hair giving it a good coat then scrunching. This is not a regular spray gel at all. I could not detect any scent at all. The spray is not sticky like most spray gels I have every tried. I did not get that crunchy hair cast.

I usually wait 10 to 15 minutes before I diffuse my hair. Still no crunch to my hair. I could see great curl formation and my hair felt soft. When my hair was about 80% dry I sprayed the Raw Curls Anti-Frizz Spray on my hair, paying close attention to my trouble spots. This is another amazing product. I’m so glad to of stumbled on this awesome Hair Serum, it really has made my day so much easier. It has a slight citrus scent. It is super light and did not weigh down my hair. This product can be used as a leave-in detangler or curl refresher.

I was blown away by the results. My curls had great definition, my roots did not feel weighed down by product. Plus, my hair felt hydrated and moisturized. Frizz was minimal to non, considering that is one of my biggest problems. I can’t wait to try the rest of the goodies. I certainly would recommend this line for curly hair. Yes you read correctly, beer is good for your curly hair. The benefits of a beer rinse are softer hair, shine, volume/bounce and revitalizes curls. Buy hair volume enhancement, to get the volume you are looking for. I wondered if this would be good for my 3a/3b low porosity curly hair. I decided to give it a try.

What you need is a bottle of beer. It is recommended that the beer be non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholic beer is more acidic so you get the best results. I didn’t use non-alcoholic beer because I didn’t want to invest in a 6 pack that cost $8. I had a bottle already that I could use and it wouldn’t cost me a thing. The beer should be room temperature and flat. So just open it and leave it out overnight.

I decided to wash my hair in the sink because I wasn’t down with the idea of a whole body beer bath.

I started off by cleansing my hair with NYC Curls by Carlos Flores. I took the opportunity to detangle my hair at this point.

Next I poured out the beer into a measuring cup to make it easier to pour. I placed a large pot in the sink to catch the beer as it fell off my hair. I would pour back the beer into the cup and pour it on my hair again. I did this about 4 times making sure to really saturate my hair. I scrunched my hair several times working the beer into my hair. I would say this process might have lasted about 5 minutes. During this rinsing process my hair felt soft. I rinsed out the beer with plenty of warm water. My hair had a faint beer smell.

The last step was to condition my hair. This step is optional. Some people do it and others don’t. But it does help eliminate the beer smell if the water rinse didn’t do it. I conditioned my hair with EO Essentials lavender & aloe conditioner mixed with two spoons of honey. I saturated my hair with the mix and combed it through. I then rinsed with warm water.

I styled my hair as usual. My hair was super soft. I had a lot of volume in my curls and at the top as well. I did notice a bit of frizz at the top but it wasn’t too bad. My hair was very shinny and my curls did look more tightly coiled. I am very impressed with how this rinse worked out for me. If the results were good with regular beer I can only imagine they will be even better with the non-alcoholic beer. I will definitely be investing in getting some non-alcoholic beer to do this again on my hair.
