Beauty Tips for Women: Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene / Orly – Halo tape manicure

I know I’m late to the tape manicure scene but here is my first try.  I used the blue painters tape because I happened to have it handy.  Oh, and please excuse the nubs; so much pool over the summer left my nails in bad shape so I had to chop them off.

I started off with two coats of Finger Paints – Don’t Make A Scene.  Don’t Make A Scene is a light tan or nude crème color.  I had no complaints with the formula and was opaque in two coats.  Under certain lights the yellowish undertones really come out.   Did a comparison picture to show what I mean.

I decided I would pair Don’t Make A Scene with Orly – Halo.  Halo is a mix of subtle gold and silver glitters.  It truly is a glitter bomb, packed densely together. I tried a French manicure tip on my thumb by cutting a little semi-circle into the tape.  For my index finger and middle finger I did a vertical and diagonal design.  For my ring finger I did a free hand half moon and two dots.  I used just one coat on my pinky.

I liked the color combination and would definitely try this one again.  I’m not sure that I’m a super fan of tape manicures.  I found dealing with the tape a bit cumbersome.  Certainly practice is needed to pull off some of the amazing manicures I have seen online.

Beauty Tips for Women: Christmas in July Polish Haul

I wanted to share some deals I had come across in the month of July making it Christmas in July.

Sally Beauty store was holding a buy one get one deal on China Glaze, Orly and Gelish polish.  I had read online some complaints about some Sally stores not advertising the sale with any signs therefore not honoring the deal, so the advice was to print out the deal or be able to pull it up on your phone.  So armed with this info I headed to my Sally Beauty store and as expected the sale was not advertised anywhere.  I pulled up the advertisement on my phone and showed the cashier and asked if they were honoring this deal, she said yes and called over a manager who was not to happy about honoring the deal.

I managed to pick up two China Glaze polishes, Hawaiian Punch and Love Letters, for only $3.29. Both were on clearance so it turned out to be an amazing deal.

After a very stressful day, I decided to take a stroll at Sally Beauty store but anther location with no intentions of purchasing anything, just some healthy window shopping.  In their clearance section was a China Glaze Christmas 2012 set for $2.99.  I could not believe my eyes.  I certainly didn’t expect to see these sets again and certainly not for that price.  I had missed out on getting a set, or perhaps all the sets, when they came out so this certainly was awesome.  The polishes in the set are Red Satin and Winter Holly.

The second deal is on Milani polish.  I don’t know how long this clearance has been going on at Target but they had a good amount of Milani cosmetics on clearance and all of the Milani polishes are included.  Here are the colors listed from left to right: White On The Spot, Teal, Jiffy Orange, Fresh Teal, Gold, Gems, and Hot Pink. All the polishes I picked up were $1.98.  A great deal.  So definitely check out your Target store to see if they also are having this sale.

Looking forward to using all these colors in manicures.

Beauty Tips for Women: Sally Hansen – Caribbean Coral & Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional

Sally Hansen Caribbean Coral is a lovely coral that is red with shimmer.  I’ve had this color hiding in my stash and had not tried it until now.  What was I thinking because I am loving this color.  I totally messed up and didn’t take a picture of Caribbean Coral prior to adding Black Tie Optional.  I applied two coats of Caribbean Coral and had no issues with the formula.

Hard Candy Black Tie Optional is a clear base with black and white glitter.  The formula was good and I didn’t have to fish around to get the different sizes of glitter.  I did two very thin coats and topped it with Seche Vite.

I really liked how this manicure came out.
