Beauty Tips for Women: Recreation of Hearts, Stars & Splatter Manicure by elleandish

One of my favorite nail art ladies on youtube is elleandish.  She has some very lovely manicures and wonderful “do it yourself” tips for nail art.  She did a nail tutorial called Hearts, Stars & Splatter; I fell in love with the design of the manicure and color combination.  Here is a link to go check it out and while your there follow her: http://youtu.be/_8tA_J5t-JQ

I decided to recreate the look.  Unfortunately I didn’t have all the polishes she had to create the look, so I would have to make do with what I have.

Here are the polishes I used to make the look: (from left to right)
China Glaze – For Audrey
Venique – Wingtip White
Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional
Cover Girl – Disco Dazzle
Essence – Icy Princess
Poshe – fast dry topcoat
Venique – basecoat (not shown)
Konad – Black (not shown)
Konad – White  (not shown)

The stamping plates I used are: (from left to right)
Born Pretty Plate – KD3
Bundle Monster – BM311
Bundle Monster – BM303
Plus my Born Pretty plastic blade scrapper and Konad stamper.

I started off with my basecoat, then two coats of For Audrey and Wingtip White.  I did only one coat of Icy Princess since the silver glitter was going over it.  Unfortunately my silver glitter was not “chunky” like the one used by elleandish.

I had some major issues stamping with my Konad white; it was coming out very light no matter which way I scrapped. It is very noticeable on my thumb where the double stamping was happening.  For the hearts stamp I decided to stamp with Wingtip White and had a better outcome. I topped everything off with Poshe.

Overall, I think it came out ok.  It doesn’t look exactly like hers but still I love the look.

Beauty Tips for Women: Roses Manicure using Venique

I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of the Nail It! Magazine’s contest; my prize was 4 polishes from Venique.  Venique sent me a top coat, bast coat, I’m A Sucker For Wedges, and Wingtip White.  I love Venique polishes and own a few already so this was an awesome prize to win.

It seems that with spring in the air there has been inspiration in the online nail art world to do manicures with roses, mostly freehand.  I suck at freehand which is why I am hooked on stamping.  I thought these colors from Venique would make for a nice rose manicure.

I stared off with Venique base coat, which is sticky and anchors the polish.  Love this base coat.  Then applied two coats of Wingtip White on my thumb and ring finger.  This is a lovely white cream polish.  The formula was perfect.  I had no issues at all with it.  I applied two coats of I’m A Sucker For Wedges on the rest of my nails.  It is a vibrant deep hot pink, which just screams summer to me.  No issues at all with the formula, just a delight to put on.

The formula of each polish was just right for stamping.  So I decided I would use them to stamp the images from the plates I selected.  For the ring finger I isolated a rose off Bundle Monster’s BM323.  For the thumb I used Checky CH6.  I stamped these with I’m A Sucker For Wedges.  As you can see it stamped perfectly.  I used Cheeky CH6 again for the dots and Cheeky CH10 for the stripes.  On my pinky I used Cheeky CH14.  These were all stamped with Wingtip White.  As you can see it also stamped wonderfully.  I used two different green strippers to create the little leaves.  Finished if off with Venique top coat.   Just love how it turned out and just the vibrancy of the colors both as polish and stamping polish.

My 3 year old loved how my rose manicure turned out and wanted me to do her nails too.  She wanted purple and pink. So I opted to keep going with Venique.  I used Jamin’ in Jellies. One thin coat did the trick for her little nails and stamped the roses using I’m A Sucker For Wedges.  I used the roses from Cheeky CH14.  The same one I used on my pinky.  I used my stripper in green to make small petals.  She was so happy with how it came out.  I think I have a little diva polish princess on my hands.

I can’t say enough good things about Venique.  You can find them on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/VeniqueNails and their web page:  http://www.veniquenails.com for further information about where to purchase.

I give Wingtip White and I’m A Sucker For Wedges 5 brains!

Beauty Tips for Women – Hawaiian Christmas Manicure

Bundle Monster came out with a special edition Hawaiian Christmas plate BM-SE1.  I love all things Hawaiian, Tiki, Polynesian in theme.  I needed to get my hands on it. Bundle Monster BM-SE1

The Hawaiian Christmas plate has 7 images on it.  I immediately feel in love with the Santa Tiki.  But all the images are super cute.  I did a test stamp on paper using Konad black and all the images transferred over and were clear.  I had absolutely no issues whatsoever.

I wanted to do nontraditional colors for my Christmas manicure and try to give it an island feel. I came up with the idea of putting the Santa Tiki on the beach with palm trees. Once I decided that it was time to pick the nail polish colors.

Here is a list of what I used:
LA Colors – Sassy Sparkly
China Glaze – For Audrey
Konad – Black & White
Rimmel – Hot Coca
Color Club – Earthly Angel
Ulta – Envy
Sally Hansen – Rapid Red
Maybelline – Bold Gold
Sally Hansen – Lighening
Pure Ice – Silver Mercedes

Santa TikiI started off with doing a base coat of For Audrey.  I sponged Earthly Angel on the tip of my nail to make a little beach area.  Using Envy I painted the palm trees free hand.  I then stamped the Santa Tiki in Hot Coca but only the Tiki not the hat.  I then filled in the image completely with Hot Coca waited for it to dry and added top coat.  The reason for doing this is if I messed up placing the black image over the brown I could take acetone and gently wipe it away without taking off the rest of the polish; basically erasing the mistake.  Next used Black for the Tiki, White for the trim and Rapid Red for the hat; I lined it up as best I can and rolled.  I practiced doing this method on nail art wheel a couple of times before tying it on my nails.  So I was able to get on the first try.  Topped it off with Seche Vite.

For the middle finger I used the Christmas tree.  I stamped the tree with Eny and the flower with Konad white.  With a dotting tool I placed red and yellow dots and used a gold striper to fill in the lines.  Topped it off with Seche Vite.  Index and pinky finger I added a coat of Sassy Sparkly.  It was my intention to do it on my middle finger but totally forgot and once I but the on the Seche Vite I didn’t want to go back and mess with it.  Using Konad White I stamped Mele Kalikimaka.  For the presents on the pinky I used Silver Mercedes and Bold Gold to stamp the presents.  Topped it off with Seche Vite.

I shared my manicure with Bundle Monster via Instagram and was blown away when they shared my manicure on their facebook page.  I love their stamping plates so it truly was an honor to make it onto their timeline.

I hope you enjoyed, Mele Kalikimaka everyone!
