I was so happy to come across Hair RePear the Ultimate T-shirt Hair Towel. Their website description says: “The Hair RePear towel’s completely smooth surface is unlike Terry Cloth and Microfiber. Loops, Ridges and bumps found on terry cloth and microfiber cause friction. Friction is Enemy #1 to your hair causing dreaded Frizzy hair, Breaks, and Flyaways”. The towel comes in two sizes 19”x39” and 29”x45”. The colors are white or black. I have wavy/curly hair. Frizz is always an issue for my hair. I have been using old t-shirts to wrap and scrunch my hair for some years now. It is the best thing to use other than a towel. So I was excited to try this product.

I purchased a black towel size 29”x45”, since my hair is past my shoulders. I am impressed by the quality of the fabric which really is smooth. The size I choose was perfect.

I have been using the towel for about two weeks and I’m in love. I wrap it around like a turban. I also use it to scrunch out excess water and hair products. Adding this to my hair care routine has certainly made a difference. I will always have issues with frizz but this towel has helped. This towel is great for all hair types. I will be purchasing more for the rest of my household.

Beauty Tips for Women: Art Naturals Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner Set

I received the Art Naturals Argan Oil Duo shampoo & conditioner at a discount in exchange for my review.

The shampoo is the restorative formula. The shampoo has a nice scent to it and lathers well. I found it cleaned without stripping the hair. The conditioner is the hydrating formula. It has an unusually scent but I didn’t find it horrible. The conditioner is thick and provides good slip. The shampoo and conditioner’s label indicates that it is paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, contains 100% pure organic oils.

If you are following the curly girl method this duo is not for you. I provided a picture of the ingredients list. The shampoo contains cocamidopropyl betaine and all the oils are towards the bottom of the ingredients list. The conditioner is packed with a lot of great ingredients which are right at the top of the ingredient’s list but it contains silicons: amodimethicone, dimethicone, and cyclomethicone.

I wanted to like this set but the ingredients were not what I had hoped for.

Beauty Tips for Women: Beer rinse for curly hair

Yes you read correctly, beer is good for your curly hair. The benefits of a beer rinse are softer hair, shine, volume/bounce and revitalizes curls. Buy hair volume enhancement, to get the volume you are looking for. I wondered if this would be good for my 3a/3b low porosity curly hair. I decided to give it a try.

What you need is a bottle of beer. It is recommended that the beer be non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholic beer is more acidic so you get the best results. I didn’t use non-alcoholic beer because I didn’t want to invest in a 6 pack that cost $8. I had a bottle already that I could use and it wouldn’t cost me a thing. The beer should be room temperature and flat. So just open it and leave it out overnight.

I decided to wash my hair in the sink because I wasn’t down with the idea of a whole body beer bath.

I started off by cleansing my hair with NYC Curls by Carlos Flores. I took the opportunity to detangle my hair at this point.

Next I poured out the beer into a measuring cup to make it easier to pour. I placed a large pot in the sink to catch the beer as it fell off my hair. I would pour back the beer into the cup and pour it on my hair again. I did this about 4 times making sure to really saturate my hair. I scrunched my hair several times working the beer into my hair. I would say this process might have lasted about 5 minutes. During this rinsing process my hair felt soft. I rinsed out the beer with plenty of warm water. My hair had a faint beer smell.

The last step was to condition my hair. This step is optional. Some people do it and others don’t. But it does help eliminate the beer smell if the water rinse didn’t do it. I conditioned my hair with EO Essentials lavender & aloe conditioner mixed with two spoons of honey. I saturated my hair with the mix and combed it through. I then rinsed with warm water.

I styled my hair as usual. My hair was super soft. I had a lot of volume in my curls and at the top as well. I did notice a bit of frizz at the top but it wasn’t too bad. My hair was very shinny and my curls did look more tightly coiled. I am very impressed with how this rinse worked out for me. If the results were good with regular beer I can only imagine they will be even better with the non-alcoholic beer. I will definitely be investing in getting some non-alcoholic beer to do this again on my hair.
