Beauty Tips for Women: Valentine Manicure using Jior Couture – Drumline

It may only be January but Valentine manicures have already started to pop up on the web.  I couldn’t resist doing one myself.

I decided to use Jior Couture Drumline for this Valentine theme manicure.  Drumline is a red jelly polish with red and silver glitter.  Once I started applying the polish it seemed like a pinkish-red on my skin tone.  The formula was fine but I had difficulty getting the glitters out.  It was frustrating to see all that gorgeous glitter sticking to the side of the bottle and not be able to get at it.  It also didn’t help that I was dealing with a mini bottle, which just added to the difficult of fishing out the glitter.

For the stamping part of this manicure I used Pueen plate 43.  Nail Art Polish Beauty tips for Women 302

I started off with two coats of Drumline.  Once dried, I stamped my ring finger with Sally Hansen Rapid Red and the rest of my fingers with Konad White.  I made sure to let the image dry before moving on.  I added two more coats of Drumline and topped it with Color Club Speedy top coat.

I liked the over all effect although I’m not sure what it is called; I guess you can say it’s a jelly stamp sandwich manicure … lol …

I give Drumline three brains.  I found the color lovely but couldn’t get over the issues with the glitter.

Beauty Tips for Women: Orly’s Boho Bonnet/Peaceful Opposition Manicure & Review

I wanted to share a manicure I did using two polishes from Orly’s Spring 2013 Hope and Freedom Collection, Boho Bonnet and Peaceful Opposition.

I’m a sucker for blues and when I saw Boho Bonnet I feel in love with it.  It is a blue/grey crème.  It went on like a dream; the formula was perfect.  I used two coats.  On my middle finger I used Peaceful Opposition.  This is a silver glitter packed in a milky white polish.  I loved the look but application was a bit difficult.  I expected that with such a packed glitter polish.  But the effect of it was lovely.  I tried my hand at doing a glitter gradient on my thumbnail that came out ok but I need to practice that technique.  I tried to capture the manicure under different light.  Pardon the nubs but I have been struggling with a lot of breakage and just chopped them all off out of frustration.

Since we are in February and love is still in the air, I decided to do some Valentine stamping.  I used Winstonia W102 plate.

I give Orly’s Boho Bonnet 5 brains.

I give Orly’s Peaceful Opposition 4 brains.

Beauty Tips for Women: Valentine Manicure – Orly Elation Generation

I would like to share a beauty product review of Orly Elation Generation in combination with a quick Valentine manicure.

Elation Generation is part of Orly’s Hope and Freedom collection that will be released March 2013.

Orly Elation Generation  Orly Elation Generation

Elation Generation is a popping pink jelly-ish polish with holo glitter throughout.  Application was a bit thick but I expected that with glitter packed polish.  I applied two coats to get full coverage.  This is one of those “shade-shifting” polishes that can be difficult to capture in pictures.  I couldn’t capture just how beautiful it looks, so I’m putting up a few pictures under different light and angles.

Elation Generation definitely felt very girly and romantic to me so I couldn’t help but to make it into a Valentine manicure by adding some hearts.  I used Bundle Monster plates BM08, BM202 and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes.

I give Orly’s Elation Generation 4 brains.
